The Veranda restaurant and its surrounding pavilion sit above the elephant habitat like something airlifted straight out of the Serengeti, and the roofline is doing most of that work. Endureed built a custom Capetown blend for the Safari Park, drawing on the looser trim and more expressive strand profile of traditional South African yellow grass thatch rather than the tighter, more uniform look of other profiles. Individual fibers stay visually present across the sweeping, curved roof, giving the building the irregular, hand-thatched texture that African lodge architecture is known for, exactly what a zoo built around authenticity to its exhibits demands from its architecture too.
