Roundhouses have been an integral part of Native American culture since at least 4000-2000 BCE, according to archaeological evidence, with subterranean houses. The roundhouses had many uses in Native American culture, serving as community centers for social gatherings and ceremonial events (weddings, guidance, mourning).

Larry Barrow, the architect responsible for the build, says most of the original Native American roundhouses were destroyed during the Indian Removal process. The process, which occurred in 1830, forced Native American tribes in the eastern United States to abandon their territories.

Barrow says the Santa Rosa Band of Lower Muscogee had envisioned building a roundhouse for “years” to recapture and preserve the area’s Creek Indian heritage and culture.

IMPACT 100, the Santa Rosa Tourism Commission, and the Poarch Creek Indians provided the funding necessary to build the roundhouse.

Dimensions: 40′ radius / 80′ diameter / 52′ tall / 45-degree 12/12 Roof Pitch

Unique features: Prefabricated Steel Frame / Prefabricated Roof Panels, assembled on-site on the ground.

Barrow says this allowed for safer working conditions for the crew and “dramatically “ increased productivity.

Barrow listed his reasons for choosing Endureed: aesthetics, non-flammability, durability, customer sales & technical support, and prefabricated modular units
